Strong storms, possible tornado damage NC homes

<div id="subtitle">Storms damage homes, cause minor injuries in NC; weather service checking on tornado touchdown</div><div><p>Officials say strong thunderstorms and a possible tornado damaged at least a dozen homes in North Carolina. Three people suffered minor injuries.</p><p>Officials in Wilson County, in the eastern part of the state, say they think a tornado touched down near Sims Tuesday evening. One person was injured there. The twister has not been confirmed by the National Weather Service.</p><p>About 25 people sought refuge in a shelter set up at an elementary school in the county.</p><p>Two minor injuries were reported in nearby Nash County, where officials say two mobile homes were destroyed and power lines were knocked down.</p><p>A tornado watch was in effect from the Charlotte area toward the northeastern coastal counties.</p><img src="http://admatch-syndication.mochila.com/images/ad.gif?aid=49542178&bid=informcom" /></div><div id="copyright"><div>
